Not all cataracts need to be removed immediately. Dr. Tokuhara will evaluate how your cataracts are affecting your vision and quality of life before recommending surgery. If it can wait, we’ll tell you.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. We’ll guide you through lens options like PanOptix Pro®, Vivity™, and Toric lenses based on your eye anatomy, lifestyle, and visual goals—with no upselling or pressure.
Most patients feel no pain during the procedure. Anesthetic drops and light sedation make the process comfortable, and recovery is typically smooth and quick.
That depends on your lens choice and visual goals. Many patients reduce or eliminate their need for glasses, while others may still benefit from reading or distance correction. We’ll walk you through every option.
Yes. Our CLEAR in a Day™ program allows for safe, same-day bilateral cataract surgery—ideal for patients traveling from out of town or seeking faster recovery.
Yes. Dr. Tokuhara is nationally known for correcting difficult or unsatisfying outcomes through our R.E.F.O.C.U.S.™ program (Revision of Eye Function & Optical Clarity Using Surgery).
Plan for 60–90 minutes. This allows time for dilation, diagnostic imaging, and a detailed consultation—personally performed by Dr. Tokuhara.
Absolutely. Many patients come to us for clarity after being rushed or confused elsewhere. We’ll review your records, listen to your goals, and provide honest recommendations—even if the best decision is to wait.
We don’t participate in networks that limit your options or compromise care. We work directly with Medicare and many PPOs. We also help patients file out-of-network claims for reimbursement when appropriate.

While Dr. Tokuhara offers comprehensive eye care for his own surgical patients, he does not provide general eye care or post-operative care for patients of other surgeons. When you choose Dr. Tokuhara, he becomes your trusted eye doctor for life. A Note About Ethical Care
In our community, some providers engage in illegal financial kickbacks accepting payments for cataract surgery referrals. Desert Vision Center firmly rejects this unethical practice. We follow the highest ethical standards, complying with the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law, ensuring that your care in never influenced by financial incentives.
We believe referrals should always be based on what’s best for the patient—not financial gain. If you’re being evaluated for cataract surgery, we encourage you to ask questions and be mindful of these referral arrangements.
